Backup & Recovery
Every backup is stored in two independent geographic locations. If one data center goes down, your backups are still safe. If someone accidentally deletes a backup from one location, the copy remains. BlockForge eliminates the single point of failure from your backup strategy.
The Challenge
One data center failure means all your backups are gone. Fire, flooding, power grid failure, network outage, or even a provider going bankrupt — if your backups exist in only one place, a single event can eliminate your entire disaster recovery capability.
Many backup tools store backups only on the same hosting provider as the site itself. If that provider has an outage, both your site and your backups go down simultaneously. The backup exists for the exact scenario where it becomes unreachable.
Human error remains the number one cause of data loss. A mistyped command, a cleanup script gone wrong, or a well-meaning team member deleting "old" files can wipe out months of backups from a single location in seconds.
How It Works
When a backup is created and verified, BlockForge automatically copies it to two geographically separate storage locations. These are independent providers — not just different availability zones within the same cloud. If one provider experiences an outage, the other remains completely unaffected. Restores can be initiated from either location, and BlockForge automatically selects the fastest available source.

Durability
Both storage locations stay in perfect sync. When a new backup is created and verified, it is immediately replicated to both locations using bandwidth-optimized delta transfers. Every backup is encrypted at rest with AES-256 encryption before it leaves your server. BlockForge provides a clear dashboard showing sync status, storage usage, and backup counts per location — so you always know your redundancy is intact.
Key Capabilities
Backups are stored in two physically separate data centers in different countries. Each location uses independent infrastructure, power grids, and network connectivity to eliminate correlated failure risk.
Every backup is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption. Encryption keys are managed separately from the storage infrastructure. Data in transit is protected with TLS 1.3 during all transfers.
Configure how long backups are retained per site and per location. Daily, weekly, and monthly retention rules can be combined. Storage costs are predictable with clear quotas and usage dashboards.
Restore from either location with a single click. BlockForge automatically selects the fastest source based on current availability and network conditions. Large restores use parallel transfer streams for speed.
Delta compression ensures only changed data is transferred during replication. Incremental backups minimize bandwidth usage while maintaining complete restore capability from either location.
Dual-location storage with encryption meets requirements for GDPR data protection, SOC 2 disaster recovery controls, and enterprise business continuity policies. Audit logs track every access and transfer.
